Why Stanley Mills?

This former 18th century cotton mill in Perthshire is one of the Industrial Revolution’s best preserved relics.

An excellent setting for cross curricular learning, in particular STEM subjects, and discovering global and local heritage, landscape and environment. The Mills’ history links to key topics from Scotland’s past including Highland Clearances, Victorians, WWII, Renewable Energy, and Migration & Empire.

Lots of hands-on, interactive exhibits allow learners to experience working life in the Mill, explore how water powered the machinery, and discover global links to Empire. Woodlands, meadow, mill lade and orchard areas provide space to explore outdoors.
