The Brunton Hall is a Late Modern public building and has been an important centre of civic administration as well as a popular community hub and arts venue. Civic centres of this kind are no longer common in Scotland, and Brunton Hall is one of few examples in Scotland that are of architectural significance and survive with much of their early character and form intact.
East Lothian Council is considering the future of the building and this site due to the presence of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) in the roof.
HES is asking for views on the significance of the building and the assessment. The organisation is also seeking more detailed information from East Lothian Council on the nature and status of the proposals for the site, which it will take into account in its decision.
