Heritage Science

Sunday 22 March 2020

Holyrood Park Education Centre

The Science Team surveying using microwave moisture sensors and thermal imaging cameras

This talk is delivered by our Archaeological Science Manager, Dr Lisa Brown.

The application of science as a tool for analysing and interpreting Scotland’s past is becoming much more commonplace. From laser scanning to radiocarbon dating and ancient DNA, science is providing more evidence than ever before to help us gain an understanding of how the people in the past lived and died.

This talk will take you through some of the scientific techniques and projects in which HES are involved, helping us all to better understand Scotland’s rich heritage.
