As part of the Arbroath 2020 festival, come along to the opening Festival Concert, a colourful Pageant Procession through the town and living history performances within the historic abbey to mark the 700th anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath.
The Declaration of Arbroath is a letter written to the Pope by the nobles of Scotland in 1320. It is a statement of nationhood, identifying Robert the Bruce as Scotland’s rightful king, and shedding light on the role of medieval royalty.
The six month festival programme of high profile events, specially commissioned cultural and creative projects is supported by an array of activity generated through the community programme.
Entry to Arbroath Abbey will be free on Monday 6 April.
