Image Exhibition: ‘Industry + Aesthetics’ at New Lanark

Selected dates from Saturday 14 September 2019 to Sunday 27 October 2019

New Lanark World Heritage Site

Title: STEEL REMAINS. A black and white still of the cooling towers of Ravenscraig, Motherwell, North Lanarkshire. c. 1991

The chosen images exhibited at 'Industry + Aesthetics' represent so much of who we are: the everyday life, the exceptional worker, the marginalised group, the ignored and undervalued people and places within our industrial heritage. These photographs were chosen as a result of a ‘crowd sourcing’ exercise, where participants were invited to reflect emotionally on a range of industry-themed images. Their reactions ranged from beauty to fear.

Through challenging visual and emotional displays, the ‘Industry + Aesthetics’ exhibition invites the viewer to considering their own national heritage by experiencing the industrial spaces of Scotland.

This exhibition is included in admission price. Tickets are purchasable on-site or in advance on the New Lanark website.
