Join the Friends of Duff House and special guests as they dedicate a memorial to the eight people that died, and to all those that were injured during the German bombing of the Prisoner of War Camp No 5 within Duff House on 22nd July 1940. 


  • All day:  A pop-up Exhibition explaining the story and showing WW2 items found in Duff House

  • 11.15 am: Piano in the Grand Salon

  • 2.00pm:  Banff Pipe Band at the front of the House.

  • 2.30 pm: Memorial Dedication Service outside, open free to all.  Special guests include the German Consul General, Royal Navy, Royal British Legion. Lord Lieutenancy, Banff Army Cadets and many more.

  • 3.30 pm: Illustrated Talk of the story behind the bombing, included in Duff House admission.

  • A new book “Out of the Blue” will be on sale throughout the day – and thereafter.
