Road Closures in Stirling
There will be road closures in place around Stirling on Sunday 29 April for the Stirling Scottish Marathon. Stirling Castle will remain open as normal. For the easiest signed routes to the castle we suggest using the M9 (junction 9 before 10am and junction 10 thereafter). For further information on road closures please visit www.greatrun.org/stirling-scottish-marathon
Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser in Outlander) has announced he will take part in the 26.2 mile event.
Search for National Cycle Network routes on the Sustrans website.
Plan your journey by public transport using Traveline Scotland.
As the demand for visitor parking far outstrips the available spaces on the castle esplanade, the car park fills up quickly during April to September. Please note we do not have space in the car park to accommodate cars with trailers, caravans or mobile homes.
When the car park is full, in order to manage queue times and stop blockages on the driveway, vehicles will be turned away and visitors will be advised to use the city centre car parks, Castleview Park and Ride. Whilst both Stirling Bus and Train Stations are within walking distance of the castle, it is situated up a steep hill on which the castle was built.
Castleview Park and Ride operates Mon-Sat going to Broad Street, just a short walk from the castle. The Park and Ride is west of Stirling, just off junction 10 of the M9 motorway. FK9 4TW.
For visitors wishing to visit other attractions around Stirling including our newest attraction The Engine Shed, there is parking in the adjacent public car park Forthside Way Car Park, FK8 1QZ costing £1.60 for the day.
