Early years and primary school activities
The multi-sensory approaches and creative mediums we use in our activities for young learners make early school trips extra special.

Secondary school activities
Activities are flexible, so we can cater to the needs of individual teachers, classes and groups. Many activities can be tailored to specific learning needs and booked on dates to suit you.
Our sites are excellent places for secondary schools to:
- support the learning of social studies topics
- inspire creativity in art, drama and writing
We offer continuing professional development (CPD) events for teachers. These can help you to develop skills in using Scotland’s historic environment to support Curriculum for Excellence.
Most of our CPD events focus on finding ways to use visits to our sites to enhance and support classroom teaching and learning. Many also give you an opportunity to join in activities, try out resources and view exhibitions before doing so with a class.
Things to know before you book
Schools activities carry a charge. Once your booking is confirmed, we’ll send you a voucher to hand to the steward when you arrive for your activity. You will be invoiced after the event.
Activities are charged at £70 per session up to a maximum class size of 33. Free activities are clearly marked.
A limited number of activities are run in conjunction with partner organisations and involve two separate activities at different venues, each of which will attract a charge of £70.
A cancellation fee applies to activities cancelled with less than 10 working days' notice.
You should arrive 10 minutes before your activity is due to begin. We’ll do our best to fit you in if you’re late, but we may have to shorten your session.
