Communities

Community groups of all ages can use our historic places to engage with their local heritage and find creative inspiration.

Our properties offer a great day out for community groups – and qualifying groups can visit for free. Learners of all ages can engage with their local heritage, find creative inspiration, and feel fitter and healthier thanks to outdoor learning opportunities.

Community groups across the country use our inspiring places as the focus for all sorts of learning projects. Adult and youth groups have diverse interests ranging from citizenship to creative writing – and our sites are often an ideal setting for exploring them.

We work with communities across Scotland to increase access to our sites and collections. We can also assist groups with additional support needs. Find out how we aim to improve access for all.

Scotland’s Urban Past

Scotland’s Urban Past is a five-year community engagement initiative to uncover the history of Scotland’s towns and cities, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Every project stems from a local community, while we provide the support to turn ideas into reality.

Find out how your community group can get involved on the Scotland’s Urban Past website.
