Annual Report 2015-16

Historic Environment Scotland Annual Report 2015-16

The first Historic Environment Scotland (HES) Annual Report and Financial Statements 2015/16 have been laid before Parliament and published to our website, with key performance targets being met, and in many circumstances surpassed.

During the reporting period, HES welcomed over 3.83 million visitors to our properties in care - an increase of 5% from the previous year; increased membership numbers to over 162,000; maintained a Grants commitment of £14.5 million - which helped to fund repairs on hundreds of projects, and stimulate regeneration in some of Scotland’s most deprived areas.

The report also highlights that HES generated £42 million of income from the 336 properties in care, employed 58 traditional skills apprentices across Scotland; achieved a 6% reduction in electricity consumption across the estate; and published the first HES carbon management plan - outlining our commitment to managing climate change.
