Going to work is something special when your office is a royal palace, a medieval abbey or a prehistoric ruin. Even more so, because you’ll use your skills to protect and promote our unique heritage – a big part of what makes Scotland what it is.

We offer a competitive salary and a range of great benefits – as well as more than 400 unique work environments, 77 of which are staffed year-round. Find out more about working with us and search for current vacancies.

We advertise all vacancies on our website, including apprenticeships – which we offer in most trades – and vacancies for stewards at our properties (including seasonal stewards). We also place adverts in Jobcentres, local and national newspapers, and specialist publications.

For most roles, applicants must have a minimum level of qualification and experience – typically passes at Standard Grade/GCSE/O Level. Equivalent qualifications or experience may be acceptable.

You will also need to meet our basic eligibility criteria and health checks and provide satisfactory references.

Please note that under the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 and in accordance with our Modern Slavery Statement, we require all employees to hold the right to work in the UK. If you do not hold the right to work in the UK and require Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, please list this on your application. Jobs that are eligible for the Skilled Worker visa will be noted on the job description.

The recruitment process usually takes 3 to 5 months, but this varies by post and location.
