Board Chair Jane Ryder is a specialist in corporate governance and regulation.
Her previous roles include establishing the new charity regime in Scotland, as the first Chief Executive of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). Before this, she was the Chief Executive of the Scottish Museums Council, a Board member of the Museum and Galleries Commission and was one of Scran’s original Board members.
She is an experienced non-executive director particularly in the public and not for profit areas. She has held previous public appointments as a Board member of the Marine Management Organisation, as Deputy Chair of the Seafish Industry Authority and as a Board member of Revenue Scotland. She was awarded the OBE in 2012 for services to the arts and to charity in Scotland and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
She is a Board member of the Scottish Police Authority. Her appointment as Chair of Historic Environment Scotland started on 19 January 2015 and extends until 18 January 2022
